Infra red

I did what I intended by the deadline and even after being ill and being called in to work AND going to the cinema twice. Good weeks work I think. Right! Yes...so..this:

I chose Johannes Vermeer's 'Girl with the Pearl Earring'

I forgot to do a progression strip for this piece but I did one for the following two:

Leonardo Da Vinci's 'Portrait of Cecilia Gallerani'

This image is one of my own 'Roseline'

Hope you like! ^_^

That's Life:

Good Morning!

Well what's been happening? Err..not a lot really, makes a fantastic change.
However, I do plan to be a lot more active from here on out. I dropped my previous agent as I wasn't getting any work and every time I did it never went ahead and I ended up doing 'preview' pieces and not being paid for them. Therefore, I intend to find myself a new representative which will hopefully be the start of something awesome.
I have been working on some pieces for a new portfolio start which is why I haven't yet submitted my work to an agency yet but this week for sure.

I have been working on a few advertisements and cute images which could be used in promotion, adverts, packaging, patterns, design etc.

I have also been working on some more portraiture. I gave it a break for a while to broaden my skills in the above styles and topics.

Some artists have a 'collection' of specific artwork which all have a particular link between them all. Camilla D'Errico has her 'Helmet girls' and her series of girls covered in animals so I have decided to do something similar, 'Renaissance' I won't say any more than that but images will be up soon as I will be starting them this week. By this time nest week I would have like to have completed 1/2 for the collection and sent some images away to agents and magazines. It's a push with par-time work as well but I think I....- oh wait, I have Alton Towers Friday - Hmmm...one images then?...Something will be done anyway.

I want to try and do a stage by stage saving process, it's always cool to see something like that, even for me, doing it is one thing but looking back and reviewing it is another.

There's still a lot of things I want to do and watch but I guess I will have to keep them on hold. I was bought 'Afro Samurai - murder sessions', which I have wanted for years, for Christmas and still haven't even opened the packaging :O.
I wanted to do a top 10 anime or maybe I'll narrow it to top 5? But I have watched quite a few, not of recent, but when I was younger and had more free time.
'From up on Poppy Hill' is my next movie although I am looking forward to watching 'Journey to Agartha' and the anime series 'Tamako Market' which is by the creators of K-On which, yes, it will be in my top anime, so it must be worth a watch.

I was also wanting to learn to play the piano. We took a trip back to my boyfriends mums to get his stuff from the loft and ending up acquiring his old keyboard but so far have yet to drag myself from this computer to do anything about it. I think I'll learn some Paloma Faith, Ai Otsuka, Ghibli, Frank Sinatra, Sara Barellies and......Supercell or Birdy as some of my first aims, but that will be later, first I need to actually touch the thing before I can begin to think about any of these songs. OOoo maybe some Lana Del Rey? huh. Idea.

And the new Dan Brown book is out soon....TOO MANY THINGS!! It looks awesome. It would be nice to need a Robert Langdon adventure that I haven't already seen as a movie. He will still be Tom Hanks though. No one solves crimes like Woody.

Ok, enough yakking. I'm off to get breakfast, get dressed and then off to my part-time, uber fantastic, amazing job and when I get back I'll smash my face against the wall to then do it all again tomorrow. But that's ok, hopefully the the force from the head-banging will have knocked the memory of today out and I'll be left with the overwhelming joy that I have only been to work once this week.

7!!

...my new favourite band atm. Check them out they're awesome.

Anywho, yeah I haven't been on here much but this is what I have done. I gotta be honest, I just drank a massive mug of coffee on an empty stomach and haven't eaten since and for some reason the caffeine has just smacked me in my brain so if this post doesn't make much sense I apologise.

This is what I have done recently.

I have been trying to broaden myself and not just do people so I did these cute things. I am currently doing different types of tea and coffee, I also want to do a cake one aswel, like big cakes rather than cupcakes.
So, yeaH I have just been doing this stuff really and I have written a business plan to get myself out there which will be intense but should be fun I AM UP FOR TH CHALLENGE!

Well, that's about it.

Perfect day..

....Supercell.

Well...This blog will be about things I have found to inspire me out of this god awful brain dead creativity block I have had recently.

I have recently had an idea but not known how to present it or progress it - but I have now decided to make a mini graphic novel from it. I have already storyboarded it this morning and it has...12 pages of narrative then obviously add front/back cover and inset pages but it should be..good I guess. So I will be working on that for the next few days. I started up my FB page https://www.facebook.com/AnaMaiArt and found some awesome artists:
My top 10 inspiring artists are: (new and old)

1. Camilla D'Errico

2. Range Murata

3. Loish

4. Saejin Oh

5. the team of Studio Ghibli

6. Junko Mizuno

7. Asano Inio

8. Audrey kawazaki

9. Amy Sol

10. Barbara Canepa

What I love about all these artists is that they are all so different but still amazing in their own ways and incredibly inspiring because of this, it made me realise that I didn't have to be like any of these artists to  be successful or good but I could take what I learn and like from each and try and incorporate little sections and from doing this I will create something in my own style.
There have also been other artists with different looks that I wanted to look into with my comic strip and practice with. I wanted to give the impression of age - like the images are really old by using some textures and filters or layer changes and colour balances to mess with the colours and what not so...yeah should be interesting.

All this maybe-in' and suppose-in' is making me want chocolate - I got a long day ahead of me so I better get crackin'. ....Was there anything else I wanted to add.....hmm....dunno, if there was I'v forgotten it now and will just have to post a random blog about it later.

Cheers guys - ^_^ - I'll leave u with another influence of mine - Alexia Sinclair - fine art photographer from Australia - my biggest influence when I did photography back in school, but also still now, I was thinking about maybe doing illustrations of powerful women over time..maybe...maybe not

Smother..

Hey! Yes, I am listening to 'Daughter'

It has just occurred to me that my last few blogs haven't really had much to do with my Illustration, so maybe I should get on that really.

So far, the plan is: Work hard, send work off, social network the hell out of the net and try my damndest to get any PAID work I can so I can run like the wind out of retail.

My boyfriend is losing his job as his HMV is the only one in the area to shut down *sigh* however I am hoping every cloud has a silver lining and this means he can seriously take some time off and hammer his Illustration (yes, we are both Illustrators) we met in our first year of uni on our course and now live together in my home town.

If all else fails we will save from whatever jobs we are in and travel maybe to New Zealand and try and get some work out there or if we get some money we could travel the world.

I have even written what times of the year are best :) especially Japan is the hardest as they seem to have a lot of festivals, which I want to go to but its picking to right ones, but I also want to be there when its not as busy so its easier to get around. Think it will prob be May sometime, I want to be there for Golden Week and see the cherry blossoms!

Anyway, back to Illustration.
Today I will be doing some more silhouette practice and Online presence stuff.

Omg, my sites are annoying me, I can't manage them all and I am usually so organised. Right...Ok.

Right, This is my workspace, my main influences are Loish, Range Murata, Camilla D'Errico and Saejin Oh. I also surf 'Deviant Art' as there are some amazing artists on there.

Here's a pic from 2011 - well I took it today but it was published in 2011:
My first publication in Neo Magazine when I was just starting out in digital:

So to show a yearly progression I made this:

There's quite big steps there - so I hope to keep striding! - or maybe I'll even start to strut all cocky and confident-like.

I should probably start to concentrate on one thing at a time. I have been social networking at the same time as writing this and I haven't even had breakfast or coffee WHERE'S MY COFFEE! That's it, I'm getting one brb:

^_^ that's a good cup of Joe! Nescafe Cappuccino's are amazing - However - they don't do the chocolate sprinkles and I have to say quite frankly - that's bull.

The Blower's Daughter

Yay my new phone!

So, I have officially upgraded. I have joined the new generation of technology and am now consistently paranoid that something terrible will happen to it!
I want to get it a cover and I was thinking along the lines of this:
Rilakkuma! Unfortunately, its hard to find something for a Samsung as everything seems to be iphone *angry face*
However, I can get this and therefore I might. I downloaded a few apps - Instagram being on of them also angry birds seasons, bubble mania, Otaku Camera, twitter and a barcode scanner. My friend recommended me Jurassic park so I might go and find that.
I chose to get the Insurance in the end just in case that whole toilet thing occurred.
So far I have managed to personalize my boyfriends contact - an angry picture of his face and Woodkid - I Love you - as his Ringtone :) and Niki has what I thought was a Totoro theme but realized it is actually Laputa....oh well. I also have Utakata Hanabi by Supercell as my default ^_^
Right, I have played this Candy saga game and Bubble mania too much now and have run down my battery....now what do I do...maybe I could actually finish this Blog I started like 2 hours ago.

As you can probably tell, I have done no work today. But I do plan to do something, maybe some silhouette crafting...I did do this yesterday. Some rough practice stuff...

They were just me practising flow, I'm still not brilliant at all, really should practice more than I do but I get too carried away with making pretty pictures I need to focus more.

Oh yeah, I have a 'Twitter' https://twitter.com/Anna_mai89 : I'm not really sure about it, but I am trying to boost my online presence and heard this is they way to do it. It does make me feel awkward tho, talking as though someones listening about my life that no one cares about...?

Oh, well, I guess if your still reading you might be slightly intrigued as to the life of a struggling illustrator...who ever said you NEED a degree. Especially one in art unfortunately. Although it does help with personal needs rather than actually getting you some sort of future - so I guess that's something.

Well, to end this blog I shall leave u with INSTAGRAM! Yes, I am now one of those people that everyone despises always thinking Im a good photographer because I have put a cool filter over my crappy image.

This is hail. It was heavy and now I hear thunder....what a fabulous day.

This song always reminds me of summer:

This blog is about my top ...15 Asian songs.(in no particular order as that would be just too much hard work) - and these are non-soundtrack (as far as I'm aware) If I could I'd put all Shakalabbits and Ai Otsuka on.

8. Anna Tsuchiya - My Fate

I have posted it live as its brilliant and sounds exactly the same
